Differences in the Induced Affective States for Different Colors with Animated LED Signaling for HRI

As robots become increasingly part of our daily life, the need for ergonomic and more intuitive communication from the robot partner's side also rises. In this paper, further investigation is conducted on the set of data of responses of affective states induced by visual stimuli, that was obtained with the help of a custom-built web-based application. The currently analyzed subset contains only the same hue part of the original data (from the four different categories of visual stimuli, assessing the effect of hue-change and blinking effect on the volunteers), as the current emphasis is on the differences in the responses induced by the colors and their cross effect with the blinking. The statistical analysis shows that the volunteers responded differently to the different hues of colored signals, and this is also visible on the color categorical level (warm and cool colors) as well.Red was considered a higher Arousal and negative valence color, turquoise as a negative Arousal neutral Valenced color, while blue and green were small positive Valenced and small positive Aroused colors.
