Analysis of the Parameters of Antiscatter X-Ray Grids for Dental Microscopy
To study the internal structure of solids, X-rays are often used, which penetrate to great depths. However, the radiation is scattered by the object and reduces the effectiveness of the X-ray microscopy method of solids. An analysis of the attenuation of scattered radiation by antiscatter X-ray grids made of aluminum, nickel and gold is carried out. During the calculation process, such grid parameters as cell size, grid thickness, grid filling factor with metal, and X-ray quantum energy were varied. It is shown that when using them, a spatial resolution of several micrometers can be achieved for a relatively thick object (up to 1 cm in size in the direction of propagation of the X-ray beam) in beams of both monochromatic and non-monochromatic radiation within the photon energy of 40 keV. The spatial resolution is strongly dependent on the degree of metal filling in the mesh and the thickness of the mesh.
