Advanced Wireless Power Transfer for Charging Applications with BLCSC Converter

Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) is a crucial technique that eliminates the need for traditional connectors like cables or plugs to transfer electrical energy from a power source to an electrical device. High losses in the power system result in heat generation, which affects the performance and longevity of components in wireless charging systems. Therefore, this paper proposes a synchronous rectifier based WPT for charging applications using a bridgeless Landsman Power Factor Correction (PFC) converter. The Bridgeless Landsman Converter plays a crucial role in rectifying the AC voltage to a stable DC output. A single phase high frequency inverter, enabling efficient conversion to an AC signal suitable for further processing. Central to the system’s control strategy are two Proportional Integral (PI) controllers, which operate both the output voltage and the load current. The Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) generator produces pulses based on the output of these controllers, ensuring optimal performance and stability. An isolation transformer provides safety and voltage adjustment before the power reaches the synchronous rectifier, which enhances efficiency by minimizing losses during rectification. The capacitor bank serves as an energy storage component. Finally, the processed power is delivered to the load, highlighting the system’s capability to efficiently manage power conversion and distribution in modern electrical applications. This work is an implementation using MATLAB 2021a Simulink, and it ensures high efficiency of 98% and better overall performance compared to traditional converter designs.
