Asymmetrical Rotor Losses Reflected Resistance Saliency Modeling for IPMSM under High Frequency Injection

In this paper, the asymmetrical HF loss characteristic in interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) is firstly revealed based on finite element analysis (FEA), and a novel HF equivalent model is proposed to analytically characterize the asymmetrical HF loss that could indicate the influence of the loss on sensorless performance. It is revealed from FEA that HF PM-loss and HF iron-loss exhibit significant correlations with not only injection angle but also load condition. As the load increases, the injection angle indicating the lowest HF loss increases synchronously due to the asymmetrical saturation effect in d/q-axis. Besides, such asymmetrical loss can be characterized in the proposed model, which is expected to be used for enhancing the sensorless performance. Finally, the modeling is verified by comparing analytical solution obtained from the proposed model with the numerical results of FEA.
