Advancing IT Competency for Digital Transformation and Learning Ecosystem Expansion: Transcending Traditional Models in the Information Age

This research examines how organizations can transcend traditional IT models to strengthen digital competency and accelerate digital transformation in the information age. Drawing on global case studies, survey data, and secondary analyses, the study explores how higher education institutions, corporations, and governments integrate cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity frameworks, and digital learning ecosystems to enhance efficiency, resilience, and inclusivity. The paper emphasizes “leapfrogging” strategies—bypassing incremental IT upgrades in favor of disruptive technologies such as digital twins, extended reality, and generative AI—to rapidly build capacity and close digital equity gaps. Findings highlight the importance of workforce development, global collaboration, and ethical governance as essential complements to technology adoption.Policy and practice recommendations are provided for organizations seeking to invest concurrently in scalable digital infrastructure and human capital. The study concludes that continuous competency development, coupled with adaptive IT ecosystems, is vital for enabling sustainable growth, improving user experiences, and shaping inclusive learning environments in the digital era.
