Union Hall in The Palace of The Country Council in Chișinău
In the present article, we set out to reconstruct the history of the Union Hall in the Country Council Building, which has undergone extensive repair and artistic restoration. The idea of restoring the original space of the hall where the meetings of the Country Council were held is welcome and would allow the enhancement of a valuable monument of history, art and architecture, as well as of memorialistic value. Realization in practice of the idea of restoring the institution's former Hall of festivities involves the careful research of the monument: the study of the structural/ load-bearing capacity of the edifice and the Hall; the lack of structural impediments would allow the removal of foreign elements, as well as the identification of possible decorative elements of the original room space. In this context, the project for the partial or general consolidation of the edifice was developed, the necessary documentation was developed for the project to restore the original design of the Union Hall. In the context of the valorization of historical monuments and the connection to the European policies of conservation, preservation and promotion of cultural heritage, especially in the perspective of the integration of the Republic of Moldova into the European Union, the monument building of the Council of the Country and the Hall of the Union need urgent restoration/repair, putting the importance of the Union Hall within the Palace of the Council of State in Chișinău, where on March 27, 1918 the Union of Bessarabia with Romania was voted.
