The Effect of the Current-Voltage Characteristic of the Cell Elements of the Memristor-Selector Crossbar Array on the Output Signal Shape
Adding a selector to a memristor crossbar array cell improves its power efficiency, stability, and reliability. Non-ideal current-voltage characteristics of memristors and selectors distort the shape of the output signal and attenuate its amplitude. Hence, it is necessary to determine the cell elements that minimally affect the output signal. This is significantly difficult due to the variety of cell materials and topologies. In this paper, we analyze the effect of the current-voltage characteristic of the cell elements on the shape of the output signal, propose an algorithm for choosing the optimal combination of a “selector-memristor” combination for cell in a crossbar array, and introduce specific metrics for quantifying the effect of output signal waveform distortion. As a result of the numerical experiment, a comparison of models of memristors and selectors of various materials is carried out, and the optimal combination of “Zener diode-YSZ memristor” for rectangular pulses with 1 ns width is found.
