Adaptation of Polar Codes to Enhance BER Performance in Next-Generation Communication Systems
This paper presents a modern method for adapting polar coding to improve noise immunity in data transmission over multipath channels for next-generation communication systems. The study examines the features of applying polar codes in a Rayleigh channel, where traditional coding schemes reduce efficiency due to signal fading. The proposed method is based on a combined analysis of the reliability of bit and physical subchannels, allowing for controlled allocation of data and frozen bits. The paper discusses the basic stages of the algorithm, including the calculation of bit subchannel weights, matrix sorting, and bit redistribution to ensure the reliability of channel coefficients. The effectiveness of the method is confirmed through measurements in the quasi deterministic radio channel generator environment for Urban Macro Cell and Indoor Hotspot scenarios. The obtained bit-error ratio vs. signal-noise ratio dependencies demonstrate a gain of up to 5 dB at a biterror ratio of 10−4 compared to the classical polar coding method, confirming the potential of the proposed approach for use in next-generation communication systems.
