Beam shape control using a concave shaped substrate liquid crystal panel
A specific liquid crystal panel consists of the concave shaped substrate with inter-digit electrode glass substrate enables three different functions in terms of beam shaping and beam steering with different incident beam wavelength. This configuration provides relatively fast optical response by separated retardation layers in a single liquid crystal panel driven by fringe filed effect with inter-digit electrodes. Incident coherent beam direction is controlled by the liquid crystal panel depending on incident beam wavelength. This wavelength dependent beam control is provided by relative refractive indices between the concave substrate material and the liquid crystal material.
