Intensified Multi-stage Constructed Wetland to valorise anaerobic digestate centrate

An innovative multi-stage Constructed Wetland (CW) has been developed to treat anaerobicdigestate centrate with ammonium and phosphorus removal efficiencies among 84-95% and 96-99%, respectively, with a high presence of nitrifying archaea. In addition, the nitrified stream allowsits valorisation as a potential nitrate/nitrite source to turn more sustainable anoxic biogasbiodesulphurisation processes.

Abstract

An innovative multi-stage Constructed Wetland (CW) has been developed to treat anaerobicdigestate centrate with ammonium and phosphorus removal efficiencies among 84-95% and 96-99%, respectively, with a high presence of nitrifying archaea. In addition, the nitrified stream allowsits valorisation as a potential nitrate/nitrite source to turn more sustainable anoxic biogasbiodesulphurisation processes.
