Model-Free Sliding Mode Control for Multi-agent Systems under Bandwidth Limitations

This study investigates the consensus tracking problem of unknown multi-input multi-output (MIMO) multi-agent systems (MASs) under limited communication bandwidth. For agents with unknown dynamical models, a distributed model-free sliding mode control (MFSMC) method is designed to ensure the convergence of the system without requiring an accurate model. Furthermore, a novel communication scheme integrating an event-triggered mechanism (ETM) and weighted try-once-discard (WTOD) protocol has been introduced, aiming to reconcile limited communication resources with required system performance. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated through simulation examples.
