Study on the performance of battery thermal management of electric mine truck under different working conditions

With the wide application of electric mine trucks in the mining industry, the thermal management problem of the battery becomes a key factor affecting its performance and safety. The complex working environment and variable operating conditions in the mining area put forward higher requirements for the thermal management system of the battery. To study the simulation and heat production analysis of electric mine trucks under the operating conditions of mines and the driving conditions of China Heavy-duty Commercial Vehicle Test Cycle (CHTC), a thermal management system of the battery with a bionic fern-like vein structure is proposed, which adopts a combination of liquid cooling and phase-change materials (PCM), and makes use of the advantages of the bionic structure that increases the heat exchange area to achieve effective temperature control, and verifies its effectiveness through Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation and experiments. By establishing the operation model of the electric mine truck in mine operating condition and CHTC operation condition, the maximum output current of the battery in mine operating condition is 90.3 A at full load, and the SOC decreases by 0.79%, and the maximum output current of the battery in CHTC operation is 922.57 A, and the SOC decreases by 0.72%. 922.57 A, and SOC decreased by 6.08%. The operation model of the electric mining truck provides a research basis for the analysis of battery heat production under different operating conditions. The study shows that the bionic fern thermal management can effectively control the battery temperature under two operating conditions, reducing the maximum temperature to 32.54 ℃ under full load operation in the mine operating conditions, and reducing the maximum temperature of the battery to 42.66 ℃ in the CHTC condition. The bionic fern thermal management can reduce the maximum temperature and temperature rise rate of the battery, effectively improve the thermal safety performance of the battery, and also ensure the efficient operation of the electric mining truck in mine operating conditions and CHTC operation. A reference is provided for the thermal management schemes of electric mine trucks, and this is of positive significance for promoting the green development of the mining industry.
