Influence of geometric parameters of granular particles on fluidization quality

It is well known that the most promising way to solve the problem of reducing weight and dimensions, or increasing heating capacity with the same size of heat exchangers is to intensify heat exchange. Various methods of intensification of convective heat transfer are proposed and investigated. When choosing a method of heat exchange intensification for practical use, one has to take into account not only the efficiency of the surface itself, but also its versatility for various single-phase and two-phase heat transfer media, the manufacturability of the heat exchange surface or a method for increasing the efficiency of heat exchange equipment, strength requirements, surface contamination, operational features, etc. Passive methods of heat transfer intensification, which contribute to increased flow turbulence, meet these requirements most of all. The problem of heat exchange intensification in pipes with a moderate increase in pressure drop can be solved by creating fluidization of solid particles in the upstream of the main coolant. The intensity of heat transfer in a fluidized bed is significantly higher than in a single-phase gas stream in an empty pipe or filled with a fixed granular material.
