Scholarly Publication Transformation by Artificial Intelligence
The traditional academic publication model relies heavily on keywords, titles, and abstracts to facilitate research discovery. However, this model inherently limits the accessibility and interconnectedness of knowledge. Recent advances in artificial intelligence (AI), particularly large language models (LLMs), offer a transformative approach to scholarly communication. AI systems can analyze full texts, perform semantic searches, and synthesize information across multiple sources, thus enabling a paradigm shift in how research is discovered, understood, and applied. This paper explores the limitations of the current publication model and the potential of AI to redefine knowledge discovery and integration.
