Design and implementation of delay tolerant network architecture for the mega-constellation satellite network
Under the background of the rapid development of the mega-constellation satellite network, algorithms and protocols to optimize the transmission efficiency of satellite links emerge in endlessly. However, in many scenarios, it is also necessary to use the satellite network for reliable data transmission. For example, in the scenario of command and dispatch signal transmission, it is crucial to ensure that data packets arrive complete and reliably. In terrestrial networks, delay tolerant network (DTN) is a classic reliable distributed network model. This paper focuses on the application of DTN in the mega-constellation satellite network. Through theoretical analysis, a queuing model for this scenario is established. The protocol stack is developed and the bundle layer connection is successfully established, which is the key to reliable information transmission and networking using DTN. Finally, a reliable transmission system for the mega-constellation satellite network was simulated and built using hardware devices, verifying its feasibility for deployment in complex constellation environments. This study provides theoretical and experimental support for the application of DTN in the mega-constellation satellite network.
