Impact Analysis of OpenSSH Startup Methods on Background Process Management
Open secure shell (OpenSSH) is one of the commonly used remote login service tools. This paper analyzes the impact of different startup methods on the lifecycle of background processes. First, the behavior of the no hang up (nohup) process under different OpenSSH startup methods is examined. Then, the impact of Pluggable Authentication Modules (PAM) configuration on nohup lifecycle is analyzed, focusing on nohup process survival after user sessions end under different OpenSSH startup methods and PAM configurations. Finally, a case study is conducted on an abnormal termination of the communication process in a civil aviation meteorological information system, and an experimental environment is set up to validate the conclusions. The paper demonstrates the instability of background process survival when using the sshd.socket startup method, providing a reliable basis for system configuration optimization and fault troubleshooting.
