Features of Torque and Magnetic Flux Forming for Induction Motor Based Traction Electric Drive with Field-Oriented Control

The work is devoted to solving the problem of generation and limitation of the magnetic flux and torque of a traction induction motor with the field-oriented control. A combined method for magnetic flux weakening is proposed when operating in high rotation speed region. The specified voltage reserve takes into account when generating the rotor magnetic flux. It is shown how an electromagnetic torque generating takes into account the limitations of measured temperatures, stator voltage and current as well as the rotation frequency. The control system synthesis is carried out using electrical balance equations of an induction motor stator and rotor circuits in “d-q” reference frame. Detailing of individual control system elements are presented, and the simulation results of the traction induction motor operation when accelerating to maximum speed at full load are shown. The efficiency of the proposed control system for a traction induction motor is assessed at different rotation frequencies.
