Systematic Review of Technology Regulation and Trust for Crowdfunding Sustainability
Crowdfunding has emerged as a significant alternative financing mechanism; however, ensuring the long-term sustainability of crowdfunding platforms remains a key challenge. This study presents a systematic literature review to identify and analyze critical components essential for building sustainable crowdfunding models. Utilizing the rigorous PSAL-SAR framework, a comprehensive review was conducted across prominent scholarly databases including IEEE Xplore, Scopus, ScienceDirect, and ACM, selecting 44 peer-reviewed articles published between 2020 and 2025. The thematic analysis reveals four pivotal components influencing platform sustainability is technology encompassing blockchain, artificial intelligence and secure payments; business model innovation; comprehensive regulation and compliance; and user trust and adoption. This review consolidates foundational knowledge, offering a robust framework for researchers and practitioners to design and evaluate effective and sustainable crowdfunding systems, emphasizing the interconnectedness of these critical elements.
