Efficiency Analysis of Location Optimization and Nominal Power of Reactive Power Compensation Devices in the Electric Network Based on Adaptive Particle Swarm Algorithm

This article will consider the problem of finding the optimal location and nominal power of reactive power compensation devices based on the metaheuristic particle swarm algorithm. The objective function is developed based on the criteria of minimizing active power losses in lines and minimizing voltage deviations in the nodes of the electric power system, taking into account the regime and technological limitations of the network. The first part of the article provides an overview of existing approaches to solving this problem. The second part describes the developed and implemented optimization algorithm based on a modification of the particle swarm algorithm. The objects of study are the 6-node “Case 6ww” scheme according to the IEEE standard and the 12-node “CIGRE-case-12” scheme. Simulation models of networks have been developed using the pandapower library for modeling electric power systems. The particle swarm algorithm has been tested and its effectiveness has been studied for various options for the location and nominal power of the reactive power compensation devices in the network nodes.
