Reflections on the Theory of Patients Embodied Experience
An excessive emphasis on patients embodied experience may lead to delayed diagnosis and treatment, waste of medical resources, reduced efficiency and increased psychological burden to medical staffs. Starting from the concept of patients embodied experience, this paper discusses its impact on clinical treatments, health economics and the mental well-being of medical staff, along with corresponding strategies. In clinical care, while the significance of patients' feelings at various stages of treatment is acknowledged, the risks of overemphasis are also highlighted. For medical staffs, empathic engagement with patients can contribute to burnout and work inefficiencies. In order to achieve balance, strategies such as optimizing clinical workflows, strengthening doctor-patient communication and scientifically evaluating patient satisfaction are proposed. Although embodied feeling is vital, it is necessary to find a balance between scientific treatment and medical humanistic care in order to improve the overall medical quality and foster a healthier doctor–patient relationship.
