Hybrid Beamforming and Sensing Design for Near-Field Covert Communication
This paper presents a near-field integrated sensing and covert communication system, where Alice transmits covertly to Bob while avoiding detection by Willie. Assuming perfect channel state information (CSI), we jointly optimize the hybrid beamforming and radar waveform using a joint optimization algorithm that combines weighted minimum mean square error (WMMSE) and manifold optimization (MO) algorithm. This approach maximizes the covert communication rate while employing the extended Kalman filter (EKF) for accurate target tracking. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed method effectively achieves covert communication and reliable tracking, ensuring secure and efficient communication with Bob, even during detection threats.
