A Blockchain-Enabled AI and IoT Framework for Smart Travel Safety and Automated Emergency

The integration of Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Internet-of-Things (IoT) can support travel safety and provide automation assistance for emergency response. This paper describes a new multi-layer system that combines real-time IoT data, an AI-enabled risk assessment, and hybrid Blockchain technology to create secure, intelligent travel safety solutions that respect user's privacy. The travel safety mechanisms were implemented as a single system that leveraged Ethereum for public openness and Hyperledger Fabric for secure permission only accessibly data. The system also used Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs) and Zero-Knowledge Proofs to ensure privacy of users' identities during verification steps. Machine learning models including LSTM and XGBoost were used for predicting risk and identifying anomalies. Experiments indicated that the emergency detection had a high accuracy rate, low response (~2.3 seconds) time, and total privacy that is viable for use in actual smart travel settings.
