Research on mathematical modeling of aerodynamic effects of infrared optical hoods
This study establishes mathematical models to analyze aerodynamic effects on infrared optical domes during high-speed flight, including aerodynamic thermal stress, mechanical stress and thermodynamic effects. Material properties of sapphire, diamond, magnesium fluoride, and other infrared-transparent materials were evaluated under varying operational conditions. Research findings demonstrate that diamond exhibits superior performance under high thermal and mechanical stresses. Thermal radiation noise due to temperature variations were modeled, revealing gradual power attenuation at detector edges. These models provide critical insights for material selection and aerodynamic design of infrared optical domes in missile and seeker applications.
