Automation of the Technological SR Station at the VEPP-4M Storage Ring
Synchrotron radiation experiments require precise equipment control in high-radiation environments, often necessitating automation for enhanced efficiency and accuracy. This paper presents an automation methodology for experimental stations. Technological SR Station at the VEPP-4M storage ring is consider as a test case. The proposed system integrates motion stages, monochromator, detector, and data acquisition components into a unified control framework. A custom software solution, developed in C# with Windows Forms, SQLite, and ScottPlot, facilitates streamlined equipment operation, real-time data acquisition, and automated beam size adjustment. The program significantly reduces setup time, minimizes human errors, and improves reproducibility at the stage of preparing the synchrotron radiation Station for experiments. Performance validation through beam profile scanning and footprint analysis confirmed the system's precision, with minor discrepancies attributed to measurement limitations. This work demonstrates the potential of automation to optimize synchrotron radiation experiments, ensuring efficient and reliable operation of experimental stations. Future developments will integrate in the TANGO Control framework to enhance system scalability for next-generation synchrotron facilities like SKIF (Siberian Circular Photon Source).
