Fundamental study of the modulated LiDAR method for underwater sensing
In recent years, research, development, and practical application of laser-based seafloor profile measurement technologies have been rapidly advancing among remote sensing technologies. We focused on the possibility of long-range and wide-area sensing of seafloor topography and suppression of measurement error in turbid water, and assumed the prescribed turbidity conditions in the seas around Japan. A simple experimental device was prepared to measure the turbidity in the water, and the detection probability of the target was compared. Based on the results, the possibility of utilizing this LiDAR-based underwater sensing technology is reported.
