Updating Food Safety priorities through co-creation: insights and proposals from the 2nd EU Food Safety Forum

This report summarizes the outcomes of the co-creation session held at the 2nd EU Food Safety Forum 2024, aimed at updating the Food Safety Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) through multi-actor collaboration. Building on the FoodSafety4EU project's landscape and gap analysis, the session focused on redefining key food safety challenges in the context of climate change. Participants, split into groups targeting policymakers and researchers, developed priority proposals across four main categories: hazard and risk assessment, food safety management, system thinking, and data/digital solutions. The session emphasized the integration of advanced data-driven risk management, innovative analytical methods, transparency, and AI applications to enhance food safety resilience. The collaborative effort resulted in actionable recommendations to guide future research priorities and policy frameworks, ensuring Europe's food safety system remains adaptive and responsive to emerging challenges.
