Artificial Intelligence Tools for 21st Century Teacher: The Future and Techniques For Effective English Language Education

Abstract The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and techniques in English language education has ushered in a transformative era for both educators and learners. Artificial intelligence has undergone exponential growth and has been overwhelmingly permeated in the educational field, including English language education. Many individual studies have paid close attention to probing the effect of AI on learning. English is one of the most used languages for jobs, markets, tourism, discourse and international connectivity. This paper explores the multifaceted impact of AI-driven technologies on English Language Teaching (ELT), focusing on their effectiveness in enhancing language acquisition, personalised learning, and assessment methodologies. The study also investigates the affordance of AI tools for enhancing English language learning and teaching. A comprehensive review of current AI applications such as Natural Language Processing (NLP), Intelligent Tutoring Systems (ITS), Automated Feedback Mechanisms (AFM), etc. are parts of this study. The study further examines how these innovations address traditional pedagogical challenges and foster an adaptive learning environment. Additionally, the paper discusses the implications of AI in promoting learner autonomy, engagement, and the development of critical language skills. The findings underscore the potential of AI to revolutionise English language education, providing evidence-based insights and practical recommendations for educators and policymakers to leverage these technologies for optimal educational outcomes.
