2nd SECURENET 2024 Summit: Booklet
The SECURENET24 workshop is an academic event jointly organized by the Network Softwarization and Security Labs (NETSLAB) at the UCD School of Computer Science, the SFI CONNECT Centre, and the Horizon Europe CONFIDENTIAL6G project. The workshop brings together researchers and practitioners to address the security and privacy of future mobile networks, including 5G and 6G, which face increasing challenges due to network heterogeneity, massive connectivity, and emerging quantum-era threats. The event focuses on two main aspects: Identifying risks and vulnerabilities in next-generation networks, including insider threats, data sovereignty issues, and large-scale orchestration challenges. Presenting cutting-edge solutions such as post-quantum cryptography, confidential computing, federated AI/ML, and blockchain-based trust frameworks that enhance resilience, compliance, and data privacy across distributed infrastructures. CONFIDENTIAL6G contributes to SECURENET24 by showcasing its research pillars—post-quantum cryptography, confidential computing, and confidential communication—and demonstrating how these approaches can protect data in use, in transit, and at the edge. Strategic values such as enhanced data privacy, alignment with EU Data Spaces and Gaia-X, resilience to insider threats, scalability across heterogeneous environments, and readiness for quantum-era challenges are emphasized. Through its participation, CONFIDENTIAL6G reinforces the importance of collaboration between academia, industry, and EU-funded projects in ensuring that future 6G ecosystems remain secure, trustworthy, and privacy-preserving.
