Impression Management of Administrators and Staff Attitude to Work in the Era of AI

Abstract The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the workplace has significant implications for staff attitude and institutional dynamics. As AI continues to transform the modern school environment, administrators play a crucial role in shaping staff perceptions and attitudes towards technological advancements. This paper examined the importance of impression management by administrators in fostering a positive staff attitude to work in the era of AI. Impression management involves the processes and strategies used by administrators to influence the perceptions of others. The impact of AI on workplace dynamics and staff perceptions is multifaceted, bringing about changes to job roles, responsibilities, and workflows. Staff attitude to work is influenced by factors such as job security, autonomy, and opportunities for upskilling and reskilling. Effective impression management strategies can mitigate negative consequences, such as resistance to change and decreased productivity, by addressing staff concerns and promoting a culture of adaptability, innovation, and collaboration. Administrators who prioritise impression management can maximise the benefits of AI adoption, enhancing productivity, efficiency, and employee well-being. The paper concludes by emphasising the importance of effective impression management in the era of AI and calls for administrators to prioritise this critical aspect of leadership, ensuring a seamless transition to an AI-driven work environment. To mitigate negative staff attitudes, schools should adopt student-focused approaches, provide teachers with training and resources, and foster an open and supportive culture through regular feedback and well-being initiatives.
