The Prospects and Challenges of Utilizing Artificial Intelligence in Vocatioal Education in the 21st Century in Nigeria

Abstract The study assessed the prospects and challenges of utilizing artificial intelligence in vocational education in the 21st century in Nigeria. The prospects and challenges of utilizing artificial intelligence were elaborately discussed. The paper analyzed Artificial Intelligence Initiatives for Vocational Education in Nigeria. The study identified learning, teaching, administrative, personalized learning experience, teachers and artificial intelligence work together and universal learning as prospects of artificial intelligence and policy, techno-economic, security and related issues as challenges of utilizing artificial intelligence in vocational education in Nigeria. The paper also discussed the future of Artificial Intelligence in Vocational Education in Nigeria. The study concluded that the use of artificial intelligence is a positive thing in spite of the challenges. The study suggested Federal government’s formulation of a comprehensive national blueprint to guide the use of Artificial Intelligence strategy by involving key Nigerian institutions, academia, private and public sectors stakeholders in its conception, develop a Strict compliance to ethical use policies of Artificial Intelligence for teaching and learning activities in institutions in Nigeria, transparency and integrity in the use of Artificial Intelligence systems enforcement and relevant policies to curtail excesses arising from the use of Artificial Intelligence for individuals and education in Nigeria.
