PENGARUH LATIHAN SQUAT BERBASIS BLOOD FLOW RESTRICTION TERHADAP JUMP HEIGHT DAN PEAK POWER : STUDI EKSPERIMEN AKUT
The ability to generate explosive power in a short time is a key determinant of performance in high-reactivity sports. This study employed a quasi-experimental design with a randomized control group pretest–posttest approach to evaluate the effect of a single session of Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) squat on vertical explosive performance in U-23 kabaddi athletes. A total of 30 athletes were randomly assigned to two groups: experimental (BFR) and control (without BFR). The intervention consisted of bodyweight squats performed in 4 sets × 15 repetitions, with an occlusion pressure of 70% mmHg applied to the BFR group. Explosive performance was assessed using the countermovement jump (CMJ) test measured via force plate. Wilcoxon test results indicated that the BFR group showed significant improvements in jump height (Z = -3,122; p = 0.004) and peak power (Z = -2.934; p = 0,006), while the control group showed no meaningful changes. The Mann–Whitney test on posttest scores revealed significant between-group differences in jump height (p = 0.031) and peak power (p = 0,028). The mean increases of 5,6 cm in jump height and approximately 423 W in peak power suggest a positive acute neuromuscular response to BFR. These findings indicate that BFR training can be a practical strategy for instantly enhancing explosive power, particularly under limited training conditions or during competitive phases with a dense match schedule.
