STUDY OF RESPIRATORY DISTRESS SYNDROME(HMD) IN PRETERM NEONATES
Respiratory distress syndrome is most common cause of morbidity and mortality among preterm newborn. RDS is mostly due to hyaline membrane disease due premature delivery lead to decrease surfactant production as low alveolar type 2 cells. Various other risk factor like maternal hypertention, oligo-hydroemnios, GDM etc. maternal history also contribute for RDS. In our study we noted that Young age of mother, multiparous pregnancy, early and extreme pre term deliveries, extremely low birth weight neonates, maternal risk factors, severity of RDS at admission and complications associated with RDS are common factors contributing for high mortality rate. Also invasive intervention needed, complication after admission contribute for outcome of patients in RDS.
