Drones in crop monitoring, spraying, and precision farming

Drones, or unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), are transforming global agriculture by providing new opportunities for crop monitoring, targeted spraying, and precision farming. Traditional agricultural systems frequently rely on broad management approaches, resulting in resource inefficiency and environmental impact. Drones, outfitted with high-resolution cameras, multispectral sensors, and spraying systems, give real-time data and accurate field applications, allowing farmers to make educated decisions and apply inputs more selectively. This article examines drone uses in crop monitoring, spraying, and precision agriculture, focusing on their role in increasing resource efficiency, sustainability, and profitability. Limitations, such as legislative constraints, high prices, and technological complications, are also addressed, along with potential prospects in automation, artificial intelligence (AI), and integration with the Internet of Things (IoT) systems. The study finds that drone technology is not only an innovation, but also a requirement for sustainable agricultural intensification in order to satisfy the food demands of a growing population.
