Environmental Awareness and Climate Change in Hindi Literature: Rural Life and Farmers’ Discourse

In the current historical phase, climate change and environmental imbalance are emerging as global crises, with visible impacts on social structures, rural livelihoods, and cultural institutions. Hindi literature has, since traditional times, expressed the fragile relationship between nature and human beings with sensitivity; however, in the modern period this discourse has become more complex and multidimensional. Contemporary works not only celebrate the beauty of nature but also raise questions about environmental destruction, resource depletion, and the social inequalities and economic insecurities related to climate resilience. This paper presents a detailed textual analysis of the interconnections between environmental consciousness, climate change, and farmer-centered discourse in contemporary Hindi literature. It explores how literature highlights the conflicts between intricate socio-economic structures and traditional agricultural knowledge, and how it can serve as a source of inspiration for public awareness, policy dialogue, and local action. Abstract
