Advanced AI Solutions and Tools for Transport Critical Infrastructure Resilience
This presentation, delivered by Konstantinos Loupos at the AI, Data, Robotics Forum in Stavanger, Norway (23 - 24 September 2025), explored how Inlecom Innovation is driving forward the digital transformation of transport safety through EvoRoads, a flagship Horizon Europe project (Grant agreement ID: 101147850) dedicated to achieving the EU’s Vision Zero objective. EvoRoads provides a holistic framework of innovative AI models, tools, and services that allow authorities to move from reactive repairs to proactive road safety resilience. By combining advanced accident prediction modelling with dynamic monitoring of cyber-physical infrastructures, the project delivers actionable insights that help prevent accidents before they occur. At the heart of EvoRoads is an AI-powered tool that analyses historical and real-time data to assess risks for every road segment. Through a sophisticated combination of trend analysis, risk clustering, and continuous risk scoring, the system identifies high-risk areas, prioritizes interventions per municipality, and supports more effective budget allocation. This empowers decision-makers at local, regional, and national levels with clear, data-driven evidence to plan safer, smarter, and more sustainable road networks. Complementing EvoRoads, Inlecom also contributes to projects like AI4CCAM and SMARTIN, developing trustworthy AI for automated mobility and predictive maintenance systems for critical infrastructure. Yet, EvoRoads stands out as a transformative initiative, directly targeting the reduction of accidents and saving lives on Europe’s roads. Through EvoRoads, Inlecom Innovation reaffirms its commitment to designing human-centric, explainable, and impactful AI solutions that not only advance research but also deliver tangible safety improvements for all road users.
