VOICES OF DEFIANCE: An Encyclopedia of Singapore's Contemporary Human Rights Activists
“Voices of Defiance” is a student-led encyclopedia project profiling key human rights activists in contemporary Singapore. These individuals have been at the forefront of movements for migrant justice, queer liberation, anti-racism, academic freedom, and civil liberties under an increasingly authoritarian regime. Many of them are associated with or have founded impactful grassroots initiatives such as My Queer Story SG, Students for Palestine, Students for Migrant Rights, NTU Financial Aid Friends, Transformative Justice Collective (TJC), Anti-Racism Coalition Singapore, Workers Make Possible, New Naratif, and others. This encyclopedia includes biographical entries and highlights the activists' contributions to shaping Singapore’s socio-political discourse. It is designed as a resource for researchers, educators, students, and activists interested in Southeast Asian politics, youth movements, and the human rights landscape in authoritarian contexts. Activists Featured: Nurul Afiqah, Ariffin Sha, Ahmad Amsyar, Avery, Calla, Camira Asrori, Elijah Tay, Isaac Neo, Jolovan Wham, Kirsten Han, Kokila Annamalai, Natasha D’Cruz, Raudhah, Rocky Howe, Sobikun Nahar, Suraendher Kumarr
