Pour une écriture « cryoclaste » : Dans leur nuit, de Perrine Lamy-Quique

This paper examines the role of literature in the understanding of disaster by proposing a reading of Perrine Lamy-Quique’s narrative Dans leur nuit, published by editions du Seuil in the “Fiction et Cie” collection in 2021. The work seeks to bring back into circulation memories that were obscured following the mudslide that buried the Roc-des-Fiz children’s sanatorium on 15 April 1970, whether these be unofficial or official documents or testimonies from the descendants of direct or indirect victims. As a result, the author’s investigation led to the formation of an association that is now active to rehabilitate the memory of this tragic event. What was analyzed at the time as the sudden collapse of a section of rock, a « cryoclastic » phenomenon, gives shape to a verbal flow that emancipates memories and past events from inertia.
