A Case Study on the Implementation of Blended Learning in University Writing Courses
This study explores instructional innovation in university writing courses through the design and implementation of a blended learning model. Based on six semesters of experience (2022-2025), it examines key processes such as selecting instructional formats, developing online content, integrating real-time classes, and fostering collaboration among instructors. The results show that combining standardized recorded lectures by full-time faculty with real-time sessions by section instructors reduced instructional variation and improved student engagement and satisfaction. Key factors for success included balancing standardization with autonomy, designing learner-centered assignments, and making iterative course improvements. This case offers practical insights for applying blended learning in large, multi-section courses.
