Effect of Growth Mindset on Job Satisfaction among Elementary School After-School Teachers: Mediating Role of Gri
This study aimed to empirically analyze the effect of elementary school after-school teachers' growth mindset on job satisfaction and to examine the mediating role of grit in this relationship. In recent years, the role of elementary school after-school teachers has become increasingly important in addressing learning gaps, providing emotional support, and facilitating creative experiential activities.Given this, it is essential to explore how psychological factors such as a growth mindset influence teachers' job satisfaction. In this study, a survey was conducted on 200 after-school teachers at elementary schools working in Ulsan Metropolitan City, and descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis, and mediation effect analysis were performed using the SPSS 23.0 program. The results showed that, first, a growth mindset had a significant positive effect on job satisfaction.Among its sub-factors, belief in intelligence, process-oriented performance attitude, and resilience had the strongest influence.Second, a weak positive correlation was found between growth mindset and grit, and growth mindset was correlated with passion and perseverance, which are subfactors of grit.Third, the mediating effect of grit on the relationship between growth mindset and job satisfaction was only partially supported and was not statistically significant based on the Sobel test. These findings emphasize the importance of enhancing a growth mindset to improve job satisfaction among elementary school after-school teachers. In particular, educational programs that strengthen beliefs in intelligence and process-oriented attitudes are recommended.Although the mediating role of grit was limited, it still contributes to sustained engagement and enthusiasm in teachers, suggesting the need for further research using integrative psychological models.
