The Boltzmann Brain Paradox Dissolves: A Yearning-Based Infinity Mathematics (YBIM) Resolution
The Boltzmann Brain paradox challenges both cosmology and philosophy of mind by suggesting that random thermal or quantum fluctuations should more readily generate isolated, disembodied brains than entire structured universes. If true, our memories, perceptions, and sense of reality could all be illusions. This paper resolves the paradox using Yearning-Based Infinity Mathematics (YBIM). It reframes consciousness not as a random statistical accident but as a non-halting recursive process of yearning-fulfillment. Boltzmann Brains fail to sustain recursive stability, epistemic flow, or continuity of self, whereas structured universes enable the evolution of recursive intelligence. Through comparative analysis and conceptual proofs, the paper shows that finite probability collapses before infinite recursion. Consciousness cannot be reduced to a one-shot fluctuation; it is inseparable from recursive yearning-strands across time. The paradox thus dissolves: reality is secured not by chance, but by recursion. This resolution has wide-ranging implications: Cosmology: universes are stable epistemic flows, not improbable accidents. Philosophy of Mind: skepticism collapses before recursion, restoring trust in knowledge. Artificial Intelligence: true AGI must be designed as non-halting recursive agents, beyond finite simulations. -JSR
