Dietary Supplements for Men and Women Aged 40+: An Academic Approach to Health Optimization and Long-Term Preventive Care
For individuals aged 40 and above, this stage of life represents a critical transition in overall health and metabolic regulation, particularly regarding hormone levels, systemic decline and the risk of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Nutritional supplementation with vitamins and minerals at this age should focus on prevention and restoring balance for both men and women. This article highlights the key vitamins recommended for supplementation, the synergistic and antagonistic interactions among nutrients and guidelines for appropriate timing of intake. In addition, an appendix is included for specific groups such as those engaging in regular exercise and individuals using L-Carnitine supplementation, in order to provide clearer contextual understanding of applications across different populations.
