Development of Scenario-Based Educational Videos for Error Recognition in Dental Infection Control

Objective: This study aimed to organize dental infection control-related problems into scenarios and develop videos based on them. Methods: After reviewing the infection-control educational content requiring practical training, topics deemed appropriate for video education were selected. Learning objectives were set for each video education topic, and scenarios were organized. A group of experts (dental hygienists and dental hygiene professors) reviewed the scenarios through discussions and produced educational videos. Video checklists were developed, addressing problems through educational videos. Content validity of the videos was also tested. Results: Ten videos were developed, and versions with and without errors were produced for each video. Appropriate learning materials were developed for each video, including three checklists, six practice sheets, four true-or-false quizzes, and five discussion questions. In the video content validity survey, all items received three or more of the four points. Conclusions: The infection-control video developed in this study was significant because it was developed based on clinical cases. The video is expected to be helpful in organizing indirect practice programs for dental infection control.
