There are 37 types of tribal communities living in Tamil Nadu. Due to various reasons like forest conservation, mineral resources, industrialization, the lives of these tribes are now facing great hardship. They have lost their culture, industry, land, and livelihood, and are unable to connect with other people and live their ancient lives. The tradition of tribes, which have rituals and worship methods connected with nature from birth to death, is gradually disappearing. This article aims to examine the life of the tribal Paliyars by presenting the novel ‘Kurinjambu’ (a novel about the Paliyars living in Mahalinga Hills) written by Ko.Ma.Kothandam.
