IMPACT OF GAMIFICATION ON STUDENT ENGAGEMENT IN PHYSICS IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN OLORUNDA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA, OSUN STATE

This study investigated the impact of gamification on student engagement in Physics in secondary schools in Olorunda Local Government Area, Osun State. Adopting a descriptive survey design, data were collected from 150 science students selected through simple and purposive sampling. A validated questionnaire, with a reliability coefficient of 0.76, served as the data collection tool. Analysis involved frequency counts, percentages, means, and standard deviation. Findings revealed that gamification significantly enhanced students' engagement, motivation, interest, and academic performance in Physics. The study concluded that integrating gamified elements such as points, badges, levels, and interactive simulations into Physics instruction boosts student motivation and learning outcomes. It recommended that curriculum experts incorporate these gamification strategies into the Physics curriculum to sustain student engagement and foster better academic performance. Overall, the study highlights gamification as a valuable tool for improving student participation and achievement in Physics education.
