Hyper-Dimensional Bayesian Optimization for Accelerated Materials Discovery in Polymer Electrolyte Membranes (PEMs) for Fuel Cells
**Abstract:** This paper introduces a novel framework, Hyper-Dimensional Bayesian Optimization (HDBO), to dramatically accelerate the discovery of high-performance Polymer Electrolyte Membranes (PEMs) for fuel cells. Combining Bayesian Optimization (BO) with high-dimensional vector representations and advanced generative modeling techniques, HDBO explores the vast chemical space of PEM materials with unparalleled efficiency. This approach, grounded in established polymer chemistry and computational modeling, allows for rapid prediction of membrane properties, significantly reducing the time and cost associated with traditional trial-and-error experimental approaches. We demonstrate the potential of HDBO to identify novel PEM compositions exceeding state-of-the-art performance metrics within a timeframe substantially shorter than conventional methods, paving the way for widespread adoption of fuel cell technology.
