Assessment of Satisfaction Level of PMAY-G Housing Scheme with regard to SDG 11 Achievement: A Study in Paschim Bardhaman District, India
The research assessed the satisfaction levels of beneficiaries participating in the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) initiative, focusing on its contribution to achieving SDG 11 in the Paschim Bardhaman District. A questionnaire survey was conducted from both mining-affected and non-mining-affected villages within the district. The analytical techniques applied included descriptive statistics, factor analysis, and regression analysis. The results revealed a prevailing sense of dissatisfaction among respondents regarding their housing conditions. In mining regions, dissatisfaction was largely linked to issues related to housing quality, whereas in non-mining areas, the primary concerns revolved around the housing facilities provided by the scheme. The study suggests that the scheme could be enhanced by providing comprehensive support during the construction phase, facilitating the procurement of materials, offering technical assistance, conducting awareness initiatives, and periodically revising financial provisions to facilitate the achievement of SDG 11.
