Thermal Protection System of a Hypersonic Vehicle Using Composite Materials: Zirconium Diboride (ZrB2) and Reinforced Carbon-Carbon (RCC)

This research entitled “Thermal Protection System of a Hypersonic Vehicle Using Composite Materials: Zirconium Diboride (ZrB2) and Reinforced Carbon-Carbon (RCC)” is an undergraduate capstone project submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering at Batangas State University. The study focuses on the thermal protection system of a hypersonic vehicle using composite materials. Using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulations, the project evaluates the thermal performance and structural integrity of various materials incorporated withRCC under high-temperature and high-velocity flight conditions. The results show that Zirconium Diboride with RCC demonstrates the most efficient heat resistance among the tested configurations. This work contributes to the advancement of aerospace material design and provides reference data for future research in hypersonic vehicle thermal protection systems.
