Inclusive UI/UX: Designing for Accessibility and Diverse User Needs
This paper explores the principles and practices of inclusive UI/UX design, emphasizing accessibility as both an ethical responsibility and a strategic advantage. Drawing on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), it highlights methods for designing for diverse impairments—including visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive—through assistive technologies and user-centered strategies. Accessibility testing tools such as WAVE, Axe, and screen readers are examined for their role in validating compliance and usability. Case studies, including Microsoft’s Xbox Adaptive Controller and LinkedIn’s accessibility enhancements, demonstrate how inclusive design fosters equity, creativity, and broader user engagement. The study underscores that accessibility is not a one-time compliance effort but a continuous commitment to building equitable digital ecosystems.
