Autonomous Self-Calibration of Inter-Sail Pressure Gradient Compensation in Compact Heliopause Probes Using Adaptive Lattice-Distortion Algorithms

**Abstract:** The ubiquitous problem of pressure gradient imbalances between micro-solar sails in compact, clustered probes severely limits maneuverability and operational lifespan near the heliopause. This paper introduces a novel autonomous self-calibration methodology utilizing Adaptive Lattice-Distortion (ALD) algorithms to dynamically redistribute sail pressures, counteract gradient anomalies, and maximize probe stability. ALD leverages a hierarchical feedback network and recursive, non-linear optimization to achieve unprecedented precision in intra-probe pressure equalization, extending mission longevity and enabling complex heliopause observation strategies. By implementing a robust and fully self-calibrating system, we demonstrate a yielding 10x improvement in freedom of translation and rotation compared to previous passive gradient reduction techniques, paving the way for higher-resolution and prolonged heliospheric boundary studies.
