The Āsana of Motion: From Ritual Thrones to Intelligent Chairs
This article examines the evolution of the “Āsana” (seat), from its ancient role as a symbol of power and ritual, through its transformation into a life-supporting device in the modern era, to its future integration with artificial intelligence and neuro-technologies. It introduces two conceptual innovations: “Airshare” (the shared uplifting force, both physical and spiritual) and “Airchair” (a future weightless seat powered by air, magnetism, or thought). The study highlights the case of Stephen Hawking, who transformed his chair into a medium for intellectual journeys despite physical immobility. Ultimately, the article argues that the Āsana is not merely a seat, but a “space of faith, thought and technology” that embodies human dignity and continuity across civilizations and futures.
